The Needs Of Coordination

The NASA, Boeing and United Launch Alliance teams teamed up and made the launch of Boeing CST-100 Starliner possible in NASA's Commercial Crew Program. The spacecraft was mainly designed to test reusability and reduce astronauts’ manual intervention. It is compelling that this mission creates opportunities for two or more independent crew systems to work together, setting goals to bring astronauts safely back and forth to space.

I’m on the verge of tears because we, the Americans, are one step ahead of the Space Race. I really admire the efforts of how the collaboration of NASA and the private companies plays out. They valued dedication and perseverance and divided up their tasks along the way. The United Launch Alliance was responsible for the launch of their ULA craft; Boeing gave command in the Kennedy Space Center; NASA monitored the space station’s activity. Could the launch of Boeing CST-100 Starliner be as successful without team spirit? It might work out one day but cooperation definitely does help speed up the process.
